Bishkek, May 1, 2026. /Kabar/. Ex- Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Alikbek Dzhekshenkulov commented the statement by Israeli President Isaac Herzog.
“I have reviewed with bewilderment the statement by Israeli President Isaac Herzog regarding Iran’s alleged use of Kyrgyzstan to circumvent sanctions, and, frankly speaking, I am deeply disturbed.
I consider this to be a distortion of the facts and an unacceptable infringement on our country’s sovereign right to conduct its own independent foreign policy.
All the more so because this is a completely unfounded, baseless statement. It is widely known about Kyrgyzstan’s current Chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 2026. And official delegations from SCO member states visit Kyrgyzstan to hold a number of events, meetings, and consultations in the framework of the upcoming SCO Summit to be hold in Bishkek. This is a common practice for international organizations; moreover, I would like to remind that the SCO is recognized by the UN and its reputation is known all over the world.
To draw unfounded conclusions from this, such as that “Kyrgyzstan could be used by Iran as a smuggling route” not only casts doubt on the competence of Israel’s current political leadership in assessing the international policy of a sovereign state, but also on the true intentions behind such slanderous statements, which seriously undermines relations between our countries.
Moreover, such reckless statements cause outrage among the international community, which witnesses daily the current ruling Zionist regime in Israel ignores UN resolutions, statements by various international organizations, and the demands of leaders of many countries regarding regional and global security.
In gross violation of every conceivable and inconceivable norm of international law - the inviolability of borders, the expansion of sovereign states’ territories, the genocide of civilians, and the bombing of schools - it has caused the deaths of hundreds and thousands of civilians, including women and children, in Gaza, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, and Iran.
The whole world knows that Israel has been seizing foreign territories for decades, provoking hatred and outrage among all right-thinking people.
One cannot trust the leaders of that country, who hypocritically and frankly deny the fact that they possess nuclear weapons, while preventing other states from developing peaceful nuclear energy programs. It is outrageous that such two-faced leaders of that country have suddenly become concerned about sanctions circumvention in Kyrgyzstan.
There is a wise saying among our ancient Kyrgyz people: “They see the speck in another’s eye, but do not notice the log in their own,” Dzhekshenkulov said.
