Bishkek, April 29, 2026. /Kabar/. The mudflow occurred in Gulcho, Alay district, Osh oblast, on April 28, at approximately 4:45 PM, due to heavy rains.
According to Osh oblast administration, torrential waters flooded the yards and basements of residential buildings, as well as public facilities.
On April 29, the head of the Osh region, Amankan Kenjebaev, personally visited the scene and gave operational instructions to the relevant services to quickly eliminate the consequences of the disaster.
The following resources have been deployed for cleanup and recovery efforts:
- 388 personnel;
- 23 pieces of equipment (12 engineering vehicles and 11 light vehicles);
- 5 motor pumps. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is directly deployed: 74 rescuers and 10 pieces of specialized equipment.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Iskender Sulaimanov is coordinating the on-site work.
According to preliminary data, the mudflow affected 92 residential buildings:
- the basements of 17 buildings are flooded;
- the yards of 71 buildings are flooded;
- four outbuildings (sheds) were damaged.
Four public facilities were also damaged: two schools, a public service center, and a museum. Work to pump out water and clear the area continues.
