Flood in Batken: Cleanup efforts continue

Bishkek, June 23, 2026. /Kabar/. Due to the consequences of mudflows in Batken district, a state of emergency has been declared.

According to Batken oblast administration, heavy rains triggered powerful mudflows in the region the previous day, flooding several villages. Today, 100 rescuers, 10 pieces of equipment, and 4 motor pumps from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as 44 personnel and 12 pieces of equipment from the Civil Defense, and 9 workers and 7 pieces of equipment from local aiyl okmotu (local administration) are involved in the cleanup efforts.

Mudflows flooded the living room of one house, the courtyards of 177 residential buildings, the basements of 17 houses, and the outbuildings of 23 farmsteads. Additionally, approximately 9 kilometers of internal farm roads were damaged, and 3 vehicles were damaged. Thirteen power line supports and 10 irrigation ditches were washed away, and sand and gravel deposits formed along 6 kilometers of roads.

Furthermore, three internal farm bridges and the territory of an electrical grid company were damaged, and the courtyard of one aiyl okmotu was flooded. The 1,000-meter-long mudflow diversion channel is completely clogged with mudflow sediment, and another 4,000 meters of the channel have been washed away and eroded in various places.

At the direction of the president, disaster relief efforts are currently being intensified.
