Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2025. /Kabar/. As part of an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman, bilateral talks were held between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Jeenbek Kulubaev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman Said Al-Busaidi.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including prospects for deepening Kyrgyz-Omani relations in the trade, economic, investment and tourism spheres.

Kulubaev noted the significant untapped potential for cooperation between the two countries and proposed to intensify the exchange of visits at the highest and high levels, create a joint intergovernmental commission and a Kyrgyz-Omani business council.

In this context, he invited the Omani side to participate in the investment forum between the countries of Central Asia and the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in late June - early July 2025.

Minister Saeed Al Busaidi confirmed Oman's interest in developing cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and supported the initiative to create mechanisms for interaction between government agencies and the private sector of the two countries.

During the talks, Minister Kulubaev conveyed a message from the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tarek Al Said and expressed hope for Oman's support for Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2027-2028.

In addition, the Kyrgyz side expressed hope for Oman's high-level participation in the Global Mountain Summit in 2027, emphasizing that Oman, like Kyrgyzstan, is a mountainous country. The Omani Foreign Ministry expressed support for this initiative and interest in participating.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a Memorandum on political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Sultanate of Oman, and also agreed to continue work on organizing mutual visits at the highest and high levels.
