Bishkek, Jan. 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibrayev met with the heads of the consortium of GPRC, NRP and KCG companies Konstantin Panovko and Alexander Ong.

As reported by the department, at the meeting the minister spoke about the work done and implemented projects related to the development of the country's energy system over the past 2-3 years.

At the same time, the minister suggested that the consortium leadership consider the possibility of building thermal power plants in Kyrgyzstan's coal fields.

The consortium leadership announced its intention to finance the construction of three thermal power plants with total capacity of 1050 MW, each with a capacity of 350 MW, using clean coal technology in accordance with international standards. They said that they have experience in building such thermal power plants.

They said that using new technologies they can produce reliable, clean and uninterrupted energy from coal. To do this, experts said that it is necessary to study the quality characteristics of the deposits and coal, including ash content, moisture content, volatile matter, sulfur and phosphorus content, and calorific value.

Minister invited a group of experts from the consortium to conduct research in Kyrgyzstan to obtain all the necessary information for the implementation of the project, and noted that the Ministry would provide the necessary support.
