Bishkek, July 20, 2026. /Kabar/. In the first half of 2026, 35 new wastewater treatment facilities were built and commissioned in Issyk-Kul region, Bekzhan Sultangaziev, Director of the Environmental and Technical Supervision Service told Birinchi Radio.
According to him, this brought the total number of wastewater treatment facilities in the region to 286 this year, up from 251 in 2025.
All tourist accommodation facilities in the region must have wastewater treatment facilities or be connected to the appropriate systems. Based on an inventory conducted at the beginning of the tourist season, 1,267 recreational facilities were identified in Issyk-Kul. These include 171 boarding houses, 62 hotels, 984 guesthouses, and 50 yurt camps.
Some facilities operate seasonally, making their complete inventory challenging. Despite this, indicators are improving annually, and the number of treatment facilities is increasing," Sultangaziev noted.
He also added that there are still facilities that are not connected to the wastewater treatment system or lack the appropriate facilities.
