Jeenbek Kulubaev takes part in meeting of Council of FMs of SCO member states

Bishkek, July 16, 2025. /Kabar/. On July 15, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev took part in the meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, which was held in Tianjin city of China.

At the meeting, the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of the SCO member states discussed preparations for the meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council, which will be held on September 1, 2025 in Tianjin. A substantive exchange of views on topical issues on the SCO agenda in the field of security and sustainable development also took place.

At the beginning of his speech, Kulubaev supported his Chinese colleague with an effective chairmanship in the SCO and assured of the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic to support the adoption of the final documents of the Council meeting of the SCO Heads of State.

In the field of security, the minister emphasized the need to continue active cooperation between the Parties in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism, as well as new non-traditional and hybrid challenges and threats to security in the Organization. In this regard, the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry advocated strengthening the potential of the Regional Anti-Terrorism Structure and noted the relevance of creating the SCO Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek.

In his speech, the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry noted the importance of further strengthening economic cooperation within the Organization, including the early creation of the SCO Development Bank.

Kulubaev also informed the participants of the meeting about the preparations of the Kyrgyz side for the fourth chairmanship of the SCO in 2025-2026, which coincides with the 25th anniversary of the Organization. It was also announced that the city of Cholpon-Ata has been designated the cultural and tourist capital of the SCO in 2025-2026.

In conclusion of his speech, the head of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry noted that Kyrgyzstan, as the next chairman of the SCO, plans to support and increase the momentum of activities in the Organization with the participation of all member states.
