Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2026. /Kabar/. On January 14, Kyrgyz Ambassador to the United States, Aibek Moldogaziev, met with John Pommersheim, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central and South Asian Affairs.

According to the diplomatic mission, during the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of Kyrgyz-American cooperation, including strengthening political dialogue, organizing joint events, and developing trade and economic relations. They paid special attention to the upcoming B5+1 business forum, scheduled for February 4-5 in Bishkek.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the additional requirements imposed by the United States for B-1/B-2 visas, as well as the temporary suspension of immigrant visas for citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Moldogaziev expressed concern that these requirements would negatively impact mutual travel between citizens of the two countries and lead, among other things, to a reduction in business and tourism contacts, which would hinder the further development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. He proposed discussing mutually acceptable solutions on this issue.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Pommersheim stated that these measures were taken within the framework of current U.S. policy to combat illegal immigration, but expressed the U.S. side's readiness for further discussion and cooperation.
