Bishkek, Feb. 26, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstani Ernazar Akmataliev won the MUHAMET MALO-2026 international ranking tournament in the 70 kg weight class.
According to the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, Akmataliev began his competition in the round of 16, where he defeated the reigning European champion, Russian Ibragim Ibragimov, with a score of 4:3.
In the quarterfinals, the Kyrgyzstani defeated Moldovan Vasily Diacon 6-1. In the semifinals, he defeated Kazakhstani wrestler Maiis Aliyev, finishing the match 12-9.
In the final, Akmataliev faced American athlete Alec William Pantaleo and won 3-2, winning the tournament's gold medal.
Thus, Ernazar Akmataliev earned the Kyrgyz national team its first gold medal at an international tournament.
As a reminder, the second ranking wrestling tournament, MUHAMET MALO-2026, kicked off yesterday in Tirana, Albania.
