Bishkek, Nov. 19, 2025. /Kabar/. There will be no electricity shortage in Kyrgyzstan. We are simply calling for rational use, stated Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibraev.

"As in previous years, in winter we import electricity from neighboring countries at 3 soms and supply it to the population at 1 som 37 tyiyn.

The difference in cost is once again accrued as a debt on NEGK's balance sheet.

In this regard, the president ordered that imports be minimized, energy used sparingly, and the remaining debt of 25 billion soms be repaid next year.

We intend to fully repay our debts and start making a profit as early as next year.

According to our plans, by the winter of 2028–2029, the country will no longer need to import electricity,” he said.
