Kyrgyz farmers starts potato planting using modern technology

Bishkek, March 9, 2026. /Kabar/. The Birlik agricultural enterprise in Osh Oblast of Kyrgyzstan is planting potatoes using modern technology, the country’s Ministry of Agriculture reported.

According to the ministry, the equipment is capable of performing five operations simultaneously, facilitating farmers' work and ensuring efficient and effective fieldwork.

The main features of the new equipment:

- herbicide spraying for weed control, improving crop quality;

- planting potatoes at 90 cm spacing in several rows simultaneously, increasing efficiency;

- installation of a drip irrigation hose, saving water;

- distribution of fertilizers through a special basket, which improves soil fertility;

- covering with polyethylene film to protect the soil and retain moisture.

The ministry said that if the new equipment proves effective, it will be recommended to other farmers next year.

The Birlik enterprise strives to develop agricultural production by introducing modern technologies, facilitating the work of local farmers, and increasing the efficiency of the country's agricultural sector.
