Bishkek, April 30, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev received Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Ermekbaev.
According to the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, the parties discussed current issues related to the Organization's current activities in the context of Kyrgyzstan's SCO chairmanship in 2026.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the regular meetings of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Council of Heads of State of the SCO Member States, scheduled for 2026.
Kulubaev emphasized the need to strengthen efforts to improve the regulatory framework aimed at enhancing the organization's effectiveness and thoroughly developing the substantive content of the upcoming summit.
The minister noted that the upcoming summit is of strategic importance, as it coincides with the 25th anniversary of the organization's founding. He emphasized that the anniversary provides an opportunity for a comprehensive analysis of the results achieved and the development of new vectors for the SCO's long-term development.
The parties also discussed the implementation of measures to institutionally strengthen the SCO's permanent bodies.
