Kyrgyz FM Jeenbek Kulubaev meets with UN Secretary-General António Guterres

Bishkek, Feb 24, 2026 /Kabar/. On 23 February 2026, on the margins of the High-Level Segment of the Conference on Disarmament, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Jeenbek Kulubaev, met with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres. The parties discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

Support was reaffirmed for the central role of the United Nations in maintaining peace and responding to global challenges, and readiness was expressed to continue constructive engagement. Particular attention was given to the “UN-80” initiative aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and modernization of the Organization. Support for the ongoing reform process was underscored, along with readiness to cooperate in its implementation. The active engagement of the Kyrgyz side with UN agencies operating in the country was also noted.

In addition, the Kyrgyz Republic informed the Secretary-General about the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit to be held in 2026, the VI World Nomad Games, as well as preparations for the “Bishkek+25” Summit scheduled for 2027. In this regard, Minister Kulubaev invited the Secretary-General to visit the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in these events.
