Kyrgyz-Kazakh cooperation: Speakers of Parliaments meet in St. Petersburg

Bishkek, May 22, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament Marlen Mamataliev met with Speaker of the Senate of Kazakh Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev.

As reported, the meeting took place in St. Petersburg, Russia.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of expanding interparliamentary relations.

Marlen Mamataliev noted that political and economic dialogue is being conducted between the two countries on regular basis, and regular contacts have been established, especially at the level of heads of state.

"Kazakhstan is a close friend, reliable partner and fraternal state for Kyrgyzstan," the Speaker said.

In turn, Maulen Ashimbayev, congratulated Marlen Mamataliev on his election to the post of Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, expressed his best wishes for his state activity, and expressed his solidarity with him in the successful implementation of his goals.

In addition, the Chairman of the Senate briefly spoke about the political reforms underway in Kazakhstan, focusing on the historical significance of the republican referendum.

According to him, large-scale reforms are being carried out in the country aimed at strengthening statehood, modernizing the political system, and developing democratic institutions.

At the end of the meeting, the Speakers of the Parliaments confirmed their readiness to continue an active and open dialogue in all areas of bilateral relations.
