Bishkek, April 24, 2025. /Kabar/. “The Kyrgyz living in the Alatau Mountains are our brothers,” President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev told on Thursday speaking at the XXXIV session of the Assembly of the People of Kazakhstan about the country's fraternal relations with neighboring states.
The Kazakh president said that from time immemorial, the Kazakhs have treated their neighbors with great respect.
“Neighbors have always been close, they shared both joys and sorrows with them. The proverb "By accepting a neighbor, you repay a debt to God" reflects both our faith and our traditions. This is a covenant left by our ancestors, a quality passed on to us by our mothers. The tradition of good neighborliness of our people continues today. Neighbors, regardless of nationality, religion and language, live with common concerns and aspirations. As a result, the traditions of various ethnic groups inhabiting Kazakhstan have merged and become a single whole. We attach particular importance to strengthening friendship with neighboring countries,” the president noted.
He said that Russia is the main strategic partner and reliable ally of Kazakhstan. Cooperation with China also has deep roots.
“The Chinese people have never harmed the Kazakh people and will not do so in the future. The Kyrgyz living in the Alatau Mountains are our brothers. Since ancient times, we have respected the Uzbeks as our own brothers. The Turkmens are a kindred people for us, we honor our common ancestors. We also have sincere feelings for Azerbaijan, with which we share the shores of the ancient Caspian Sea. In a word, we maintain fraternal relations with all neighboring states. There are no unresolved issues between us. From the very beginning, Kazakhstan and Russia, on the basis of mutual consent, demarcated the longest land border on the continent. Recently, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan reached a common understanding on the border issue, which had not been resolved for many years. We can say that a historic agreement was signed, which we assess as a great achievement. We are happy for the fraternal states that we consistently support”, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted in his speech.
