Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2025. /Kabar/. Minister of Health Erkin Checheibaev participated in a thematic event during the 80th session of the UN General Assembly dedicated to accelerating the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

The minister noted the strategic importance of public health for Central Asian countries and the need for stronger regional coordination. He highlighted the results of a WHO analysis identifying 25 of the most effective measures against NCDs and emphasized practical steps, including strengthening anti-smoking measures and limiting the availability of tobacco and alcohol through tax regulation. The integration of NCD services into primary care, effective communication with the public, and the involvement of civil society were emphasized. The minister particularly noted the systematic work on the digital transformation of healthcare, emphasizing that modern digital solutions enable the collection and use of data for informed decision-making.

Checheibaev also noted that the president has identified NCD prevention, the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, and physical activity as key priorities of the national healthcare policy: alongside the development of hospital infrastructure, modern sports complexes are being built.

NCDs are the leading cause of premature death and disability, and their prevention is a key contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
