Kyrgyz president meets with Mauritius president in Baku

Bishkek, May 18, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov met with Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul, May 18, on the sidelines of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum in Baku.

According to the presidential administration, during the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, as well as prospects for further expanding collaboration in all areas of mutual interest, including digitalization and the financial sector.

The head of state emphasized Kyrgyzstan's interest in developing cooperation with African countries, including Mauritius, in both bilateral and multilateral formats.

In this context, President Sadyr Zhaparov noted that, in order to promote multilateral cooperation, Kyrgyzstan received observer status in the African Union in February of this year.

In turn, Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul expressed his readiness to expand bilateral cooperation. He particularly emphasized the importance of mutual support between small states in the international arena to effectively address key issues.
