Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu received a delegation led by Gao Xiang, a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. According to the parliament's press service, during the meeting, the parties discussed the development of political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between the countries, as well as expanding interparliamentary cooperation.
Turgunbek uulu noted that China is not only Kyrgyzstan's ancient close neighbor but also a key strategic partner.
"Relations between the two peoples, rooted in centuries, have been actively developing in recent years and are accompanied by high-level meetings. For example, last year alone, the heads of our states met three times and held important talks aimed at strengthening Kyrgyz-Chinese ties. As a result, the level of our trade and economic relations has reached a historic high, and cultural and humanitarian interaction is also actively developing," he said.
The speaker emphasized that special attention is also being paid to interparliamentary cooperation. He recalled his successful official visit to China in 2024. "Last year, a delegation from the National People's Congress of China, led by Zhao Leji, paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan, during which important meetings took place that elevated interparliamentary ties to a new level. These bilateral visits contributed to the successful implementation of the agreements reached between the two countries and gave great impetus to the development of the strategic partnership as a whole," he added.
At the same time, he stated that Kyrgyzstan remains interested in further developing cooperation with China.
Gao Xiang, in turn, conveyed greetings from Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, and emphasized that the main goal of this visit is to promote the development of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation.
Furthermore, briefly reviewing the latest achievements of the People's Republic of China, Gao Xiang said that China always strives to strengthen good-neighborly and friendly relations with Kyrgyzstan.
"We actively share our information related to the centuries-old history of the Kyrgyz people and maintain close contact with the Muras Foundation of Kyrgyzstan. Our goal is to jointly study our shared history and maintain our long-standing ties," Gao Xiang added, inviting the speaker to learn about the activities of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, which he heads.
