Bishkek, Jan. 26, 2026. /Kabar/. The Kyrgyz U20 National Ice Hockey Team has won gold medals and claimed the world championship title in Division III, Group B of the IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
According to the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports, the Kyrgyz team showed confident and effective performance throughout the tournament, winning all five of its matches.
Kyrgyzstan defeated Hong Kong 4–1, South Africa 7–2, Iran 15–1, Luxembourg 5–3, and Mexico 7–4.
As a result, the national team earned 15 points and finished first in the standings, securing the championship title. The victory also granted Kyrgyzstan the right to compete in Division III, Group A of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships next season.
Hong Kong claimed the silver medals, while Mexico finished third and won bronze.
The tournament was held from January 18 to 24 at the Bishkek Arena. Teams from Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, South Africa, Iran, and Hong Kong (China) participated in the competition.
