Kyrgyzstan and China strengthen sports cooperation

Bishkek, March 3, 2026 /Kabar/. Kazybek Moldaziyev, Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Zhang Xing, Head of Yunnan SCO Culture and Sports Co Ltd (organizers of the Kunming SCO Marathon), agreed on sports cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China.

According to the agency, China discussed cooperation in organizing and holding the Run the Silk Road international marathon, planned for Bishkek, as well as preparations for a meeting of sports ministers within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The parties exchanged views on support for seven regions of Kyrgyzstan, including the implementation of joint initiatives and projects aimed at developing regional cooperation, strengthening sports infrastructure, and expanding partnerships.

Following the talks, a commitment to further interaction and coordination of joint actions in the identified areas was confirmed.

The meeting was noted to have been held in a constructive atmosphere, with the parties expressing mutual interest in further strengthening Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation in physical education and sports.

As a reminder, the Run the Silk Road international marathon will be held on May 2, 2026, on the shores of Issyk-Kul lake, and athletes and tourists from near and far are welcome to participate.
