Kyrgyzstan and Costa Rica cooperate in fight against climate change

Bishkek, May 27, 2026. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbek Kulubaev held a meeting in New York on May 26 with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica, Manuel Tovar Rivera.
The Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting, the parties noted their mutual interest in developing political dialogue between the two countries, emphasizing the priority of enhancing trade, economic and investment cooperation. An agreement was reached to expand the legal and contractual framework of bilateral cooperation at both intergovernmental and intersectoral levels.
The sides noted that, despite geographical distance, Kyrgyzstan and Costa Rica share similar positions on key issues of the global agenda, including climate change, environmental protection, and sustainable development. In this context, the foreign ministers exchanged views on major international issues and agreed to continue joint efforts to promote mutually beneficial partnership and expand bilateral cooperation.
