Kyrgyzstan and Korea discuss EDCF funded projects

Bishkek, April 10, 2026. /Kabar/. As part of working visit to Korea, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Kairat Tursunkulov held a bilateral meeting with Vice Minister of Economy and Finance of South Korea Chang Huh.

As the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported, during the meeting the parties discussed issues of development of bilateral investment, trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to projects planned for implementation in Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) .

“The importance of timely promotion of current projects and the launch of new initiatives was noted. Kyrgyz side expressed its readiness to provide full assistance in their implementation,” the statement says.

In addition, on April 9, Tursunkulov had a separate meeting with the vice-president of the Export-Import Bank of Korea, Seo Jung Hwa, during which the current status of joint projects was reviewed, as well as further steps for their implementation were outlined.

For reference: Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) is a South Korean government fund established in 1987 to promote economic cooperation with developing nations by providing concessional loans for infrastructure, industrial development, and economic stability. Managed by Korea Eximbank, it supports projects in sectors like transportation, energy, and health to foster sustainable growth.
