Bishkek, Sept. 7, 2026. /Kabar/. The first-ever political consultations in the history of bilateral relations were held in Bishkek between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of the Republic of Zimbabwe, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The Kyrgyz delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Kairat Tursunkulov, and the Zimbabwean delegation was led by Albert R. Chimbindi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
During the consultations, the parties discussed prospects for developing Kyrgyz-Zimbabwean relations, strengthening political dialogue, and expanding practical cooperation between the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to promising areas of trade and economic cooperation, as well as the exchange of experience in geology, tourism, and digitalization. The parties also discussed interaction within the UN Security Council, where both countries were elected as non-permanent members for 2027–2028.
Furthermore, the participants explored opportunities for developing contacts between relevant government agencies of Kyrgyzstan and Zimbabwe.
Following the meeting, the parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in continuing political dialogue, holding regular consultations, and implementing agreements reached aimed at giving new impetus to Kyrgyz-Zimbabwean relations.
