Issyk-Kul, Sept. 5, 2026. /Kabar/. The international ethnic music festival “Kochmondor Zhanyrygy,” held as part of the 6th World Nomad Games, concluded at the hippodrome in Cholpon-Ata.
Kyrgyzstan’s representative Nurdoolot Derkembaev won the Grand Prix.
The jury awarded first place to Vasil Angelov of North Macedonia, while Jasmina Tleumbetova of Kazakhstan took the second place. Odmandakh Bayaraa of Mongolia won the audience award.
Mirbek Mambetaliev, Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan, attended the festival’s closing ceremony. He congratulated the winners and thanked all participants for their contribution to the event.
The Kochmondor Zhanyrygy Festival brought together performers from various countries, providing a platform for showcasing national musical traditions, strengthening cultural ties, and fostering international creative cooperation.
The 6th World Nomad Games are taking place in Kyrgyzstan from August 31 to September 6, 2026. The opening ceremony was held at Bishkek Arena in the capital on August 31, while the main competitions are taking place in the Issyk-Kul region from September 1 to 6. More than 3,000 athletes from 109 countries are participating in the Games.
