Kyrgyzstan attracts financing for preschool education development

Bishkek, June 9, 2026 /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov signed the Law on ratification of the financing agreement between Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association on Additional Financing for Education for Future Project signed on October 14, 2025, in Washington, D.C.

The law was adopted by Jogorku Kenesh on May 14, 2026.

The Additional Financing for the Education for the Future Project, a $6.36 million project (a $4.36 million loan and a $2 million grant) is aimed at providing comprehensive support to the preschool education system in Kyrgyzstan, with a focus on increasing preschool enrollment and piloting a public-private partnership model in preschool education.

The primary objective of the additional financing for project is to expand the scope of the project's current activities by providing families with improved access to preschool education with high-quality, full-day childcare.

Loan terms:

- Repayment term: 50 years, including a 10-year grace period;

- Grace period: 10 years;

- Interest rate: 0% and 0% service fee;

– Principal repayment – ​​1.25% per semester (paid every 6 months, from the 11th to the 50th repayment year);

– The maximum commitment fee is 0.5% (the International Development Association's commitment fees are approved annually and are currently set at 0%).
