“Dear Shavkat Miromonovich!

On behalf of the people of Kyrgyzstan and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate you and the fraternal people of Uzbekistan on the start of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference.

This momentous event, which has become historic for Central Asia is being held for the first time, more than forty years outside the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, serves as a vivid testament to the high international authority of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the growing recognition of the entire Central Asian region as an important center of cultural, spiritual and humanitarian interaction on the world stage.

Holding such a representative forum in the ancient city of Samarkand, which is the cradle of science, enlightenment and spirituality, gives the conference special symbolic significance. It emphasizes the role of Uzbekistan as a bridge between civilizations and center of attraction for ideas of peace, mutual understanding and creation.
