Bishkek, Nov. 13, 2025. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan is fully self-sufficient in beef and lamb, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry said.

The ministry added that poultry is imported under a quota: 58,000 tons were imported in 2025, and 48,000 tons are expected in 2026.

The ministry also noted that state price regulation on meat (beef and lamb, excluding boneless meat) has been extended until December 31, 2025.

According to Uran Chekirbaev, Head of the Food Security Department at the Ministry of Agriculture, measures are being taken to maintain price stability amid persistently high inflation both globally and in Kyrgyzstan.

"Meat is a staple food in Kyrgyzstan. Therefore, we must keep its price stable. Currently, the price of beef and lamb is around 600-700 soms per kilogram. Efforts are being made to maintain this level. This is especially important for socially vulnerable groups," Chekirbaev noted.

Furthermore, livestock exports have been temporarily suspended to ensure sufficient meat supplies on the domestic market.

These measures are reportedly aimed at maintaining domestic market stability and protecting the interests of citizens.
