Bishkek, June 12, 2026. /Kabar/. Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament Marlen Mamataliev met with Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev in Astana.
The meeting took place within the framework of Marlen Mamataliev's official visit to Kazakhstan.
The meeting discussed issues of enhancing political, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations between the two countries, including expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Marlen Mamataliev spoke briefly about the reforms being carried out in Kyrgyzstan and the projects being implemented, congratulated her colleague on the successful passage of the recent republican referendum in Kazakhstan.
The speaker also emphasized the need to develop interparliamentary relations at international platforms such as the TurkPA, the CSTO PA, and the CIS IPA, and emphasized the importance of working closely at the level of parliamentary friendship groups and sectoral committees.
In turn, the Chairman Maulen Ashimbayev, noted that Marlen Mamataliev's visit will be a great impetus to strengthening relations between the twin nations.
The parties also touched upon the need to work closely in priority areas such as culture, education, healthcare, tourism, energy, and trade. Maulen Ashimbayev especially highly appreciated Kyrgyz films and emphasized that he had been interested in the works of Kyrgyz directors since childhood.
