Kyrgyzstan, Maldives hold talks on upcoming elections

Bishkek, Nov. 28,2025. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Tynchtyk Shainazarov met with Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Maldives Mohamed Zahid, who arrived to observe the elections.

According to the CEC, Mohamed Zahid emphasized that Kyrgyzstan, despite being a young state, has achieved noticeable development in recent years. Noting that the upcoming elections are of particular importance for Kyrgyzstan, he expressed confidence that they will be held openly and fairly.

Tynchtyk Shainazarov said that all conditions are being created for the organization of elections at high level. He introduced his interlocutor to the main directions of electoral reform, emphasizing that the goal of the reform is to make electoral procedures open and reliable, as well as to protect the constitutional rights of citizens. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the organization of electoral processes.

At the end of the meeting, Mohamed Zahid invited the Kyrgyz side to observe the local elections to be held in the Maldives in April 2026.

Early parliamentary elections for Jogorku Kenesh in Kyrgyzstan are scheduled for November 30.
