Bishkek, Oct. 7 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Minister of Health Damir Osmonov met with the Ambassador of Mongolia to Kyrgyzstan, Demchig Tegshjargal, on October 6.

According to the health ministry, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation in the healthcare sector and opportunities for implementing joint medical projects.

During the meeting, the parties noted similarities in the challenges facing both countries' healthcare systems, including the high burden of non-communicable diseases and the need to ensure access to medical care for populations in remote areas. In this context, special attention was paid to disease prevention, the digitalization of healthcare, and the development of telemedicine.

One specific area of cooperation could be the development of pediatric cardiac surgery. The Mongolian side presented the experience of the "Bundan – Heart Remembers" project, which provides assistance to children with congenital heart defects, including those living in remote areas. According to data provided by the Mongolian side, more than 1,610 surgeries and over 60,000 medical examinations were performed on children between 2020 and 2025. More than 30 children from Kyrgyzstan also received assistance under the program.

Damir Osmonov supported the proposal to expand cooperation and noted the possibility of organizing a master class for Kyrgyz specialists featuring Mongolian cardiac surgeons, including practical training sessions at a Kyrgyz healthcare facility.

The parties also discussed cooperation in the field of liver transplantation. The Mongolian side proposed organizing reciprocal visits by specialists, short-term consultations, and the exchange of practical experience between the medical teams of both countries. The minister noted that, given the development of transplant services in Kyrgyzstan, there is practical interest in studying the experience of Mongolian specialists who have long been active in this field. Accordingly, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is prepared to consider sending a group of specialists to Mongolia and hosting Mongolian colleagues to facilitate an exchange of expertise.

The parties also expressed interest in sharing experience regarding medical education, research, and the digitalization of healthcare. Damir Osmonov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan has gained practical experience in developing digital healthcare and in the training and accreditation of medical personnel, expertise it is ready to share with its Mongolian counterparts.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue work in several high-potential areas and to define specific formats for cooperation.
