Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2025 /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan can now store up to 1,000 tons of gold in its new state-of-the-art vault at the National Bank’s new building in Bishkek, President Sadyr Zhaparov announced during the building’s official opening ceremony on Tuesday.
In his address, the head of state recalled that the country had previously faced challenges in safely storing its gold and foreign exchange reserves.
“Conditions were weak, and we often had to store our gold reserves in foreign banks. Now, the National Bank has the largest vault in the country, which meets international standards and can store up to 1,000 tons of gold. From now on, we can not only securely store our own reserves but also provide precious metals storage services to our clients,” President Zhaparov said.
He noted that the new building and modern vault represent a major milestone in strengthening Kyrgyzstan’s financial sovereignty and developing its banking infrastructure.
The president added that the opening of the new National Bank building stands as a symbol of the stability, reliability, and transparency of the country’s financial system.
