Kyrgyzstan participates in conference on water diplomacy in Tashkent
Bishkek, April 10, 2025. /Kabar/. Representatives of Kyrgyzstan are taking part today in the International scientific and practical conference "Water Diplomacy in Central Asia: Trust, Dialogue and Multilateral Cooperation for Sustainable Development", the press service of the National Institute for Strategic Initiatives (NISI) under the President of Uzbekistan reported.
The main goal of the event is to discuss current issues of transboundary water cooperation, as well as to develop proposals and recommendations for expanding water diplomacy practices as a tool for sustainable development in the region.
The conference is expected to make a significant contribution to the formation of the conceptual foundations of water diplomacy and strengthen the positions of Central Asian countries in the international arena.
The forum brought together more than 100 participants from more than 10 countries. The participants included key experts from the Aral Sea basin states, specialists from strategic institutions and water management agencies of Central Asia and Afghanistan, as well as representatives from Asian, European and CIS countries.
For the first time, all stakeholders gathered at one venue to discuss the most important water challenges in the region. Representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan and delegations from about 15 international and regional organizations, including UN agencies, environmental centers and funds, are also taking part.
