Bishkek, June 4, 2026 /Kabar/. President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov has signed a decree on the development and promotion of chess in the country for 2026–2030.
The decree recognizes chess as a priority area of state social policy and provides for the development of a national chess program, the establishment of a Chess Development Fund, and the launch of the pilot project “Chess in Schools” in 500 public schools.
The initiative also includes teacher training programs and the introduction of the President’s annual awards for the best chess player and chess coach of the year.
The measures are aimed at expanding access to chess and strengthening the system for training young players across the country.
