Bishkek, April 1, 2025. /Kabar /. On April 1, a round table was held in the European Parliament in Strasbourg with the participation of the delegation of the Kyrgyz Republic, headed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, members of the European Parliament, representatives of European institutions, the diplomatic corps, the media and the expert community.

The event was also attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Edmondo Cirielli. The deputy prime minister presented the key achievements of the Kyrgyz Republic in recent years in socio-economic development and initiated a discussion of new formats of interaction with the European Union. Particular attention was paid to trade, sustainable development, water and energy agendas, and climate cooperation.

Ahead of the first ever EU-Central Asia summit at the level of heads of state, which will be held on April 3-4 in Samarkand, the Kyrgyz delegation reaffirmed its commitment to a strategic and long-term partnership with the EU. Kyrgyzstan welcomes the participation of European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen in this important event.

It is especially significant that on March 31, Central Asia celebrated a historic trilateral summit - a meeting of the leaders of Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan in Khujand, following which the heads of state solemnly announced the full coordination of borders between the three countries. This event marked a new era of peace, friendship and brotherhood in the Fergana Valley and throughout Central Asia.

During the discussion in the European Parliament, Edil Baisalov noted the need to create permanent coordination mechanisms with the EU, including a joint investment fund or bank for the implementation of regional projects. He also emphasized the importance of Kyrgyzstan's climate initiatives, including the holding of the International Conference "Global Mountain Dialogue" and the World Youth Mountain Festival on Issyk-Kul Lake in April 2025.

Over the next two days, the Kyrgyz government delegation will hold separate briefings for all parliamentary groups and factions of the European Parliament to expand the political dialogue and agree on specific steps to deepen Kyrgyz-European cooperation.
