Kyrgyzstan presents My Home Program in Geneva

Bishkek, Oct. 10, 2025. /Kabar/. The 86th session of the UNECE Committee on Sustainable Development, Housing and Land Management convened in Geneva from October 8 to 10.

According to the Ministry of Construction, ministers and high-ranking representatives of more than 30 countries are participating in the meeting.

Talantbek Imanakun uulu, Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing and Communal Services of Kyrgyzstan attended the meeting.

In his speech, he provided information on the housing policy of the Kyrgyz Republic, development directions and readiness for international cooperation. He also noted that Kyrgyzstan is successfully implementing the My Home Program within the framework of the mentioned international initiative, and over the past three years, about 25 thousand families have been provided with house through state mortgages program.

The event discussed issues of housing affordability, expanding the public and social housing stock, attracting private sector investments, improving land policy and regulating short-term rentals. Topics such as climate sustainability, innovative construction technologies, and the reuse of old buildings were also raised.

At the session, the ministers noted that housing must be affordable, recognized this issue as an important part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Geneva Charter, and decided to continue joint efforts.

It is worth noting that, according to the UNECE Committee, currently more than 2 billion people around the world need housing.
