Bishkek, April 29, 2026 /Kabar/. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov announced the country's receipt of observer status in African Union. He made this announcement during a joint media statement with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Togo, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé.
According to the head of state, this status was granted in February of this year and opens new opportunities for expanding international cooperation.
Zhaparov noted that Kyrgyzstan and Togo are already cooperating on international and regional platforms, including the UN and the African Union.
"Kyrgyzstan strives to contribute to strengthening peace, respecting human rights, and advancing the interests of developing and small states," the president emphasized.
