Bishkek, Dec. 10, 2025. /Kabar/. Special briefing was held at the Secretariat of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to promote the Kyrgyz Republic's candidacy for non-permanent membership on the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kyrgyzstan's Permanent Representative to the SCO Secretariat, Rakhman Adanov, briefed the permanent representatives of member states and Secretariat staff on the joint appeal of the heads of state of Central Asia, signed on November 16, 2025, in Tashkent. The document calls on UN member states to support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy in the upcoming elections.
Adanov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan's nomination reflects the desire of the entire region to make a significant contribution to strengthening international peace and stability. He noted that, if elected, the country intends to be responsible participant in the UN Security Council, committed to global security, sustainable development, and finding solutions to contemporary global challenges.
The meeting also featured a speech by Uzbekistan's Permanent Representative to the SCO Secretariat, Saidkamol Agzamkhodjaev, who described the results of the consultative meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia, which took place on November 16 in Tashkent.
