Kyrgyzstan to host first ever ultramarathon

Bishkek, April 21, 2025. /Kabar/. The first ever ultramarathon named Issyk Kul Six-Day Challenge will start on May 5 in Issyk-Kul Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.

The Ministry of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported that athletes from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Russia and Belarus will run around the lake in six days, covering a distance of up to 90 kilometers per day.

According to information the marathon will start in the village of Baktuu-Dolonotu. The total length of the 6 stages of the ultramarathon around Lake Issyk-Kul will be 460 km.

The ultramarathon route is designed so that the athletes can not only run around the lake, but also admire the Martian landscapes of the Skazka Canyon and the Seven Bulls Rocks, the organizers note.
