Kyrgyzstan tops solo adventure travel in 2026

Bishkek, Aug. 24, 2026. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan has been named the world’s top destination for solo adventure travel in 2026, according to a new global ranking by adventure travel company Much Better Adventures. Italy placed second in the index, followed by Japan in third.

According to the State Agency for Tourism Development of Kyrgyz Republic, the platform's experts compiled a list of 26 countries, assessing the regions' potential for extreme and active tourism, hiking trails, transport accessibility, price levels, safety indicators, biodiversity, and growing interest from travelers.

Kyrgyzstan, located in the heart of Central Asia, attracts travelers with its majestic high mountains, alpine lakes, and pristine natural spaces. The Tien Shan Mountains offer ample opportunities for trekking, horseback riding, camping, and exploring remote mountainous areas.

Tourists visiting the republic enjoy a unique experience:

  • Overnight stays in traditional nomadic yurts;
  • Horseback rides through alpine meadows;
  • Hiking in the vicinity of the high-mountain Lake Ala-Kul;
  • Exploring the Martian landscapes of Skazka Canyon;
