Kyrgyzstan, United States held political consultations in Washington

Bishkek, April 15, 2026./ Kabar/. Political consultations were held in Washington under the co-chairmanship of Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister Meder Abakirov and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Paul Kapoor.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of the consultations, the parties discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including strengthening political dialogue, expanding trade and economic ties, and easing visa requirements for citizens of Kyrgyzstan.

Promising directions for achieving bilateral goals were also identified.

The parties emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and highly appreciated the results of the C5+1 summit in Washington, as well as the B5+1 business forum in Bishkek. The forum facilitated the expansion of business ties and attracted many American companies to Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, the parties discussed issues of multilateral cooperation, in particular within the framework of the C5+1 format, the UN and the OSCE.

As a result of the consultations, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation based on mutual respect, trust and mutually beneficial conditions, and agreed to hold the next round of annual consultations in Bishkek.
