Bishkek, Oct. 2, 2026. /Kabar/. The first national satellite of the Kyrgyz Republic has been launched into orbit. President Sadyr Zhaparov attended the launch ceremony on Oct. 1 during his working visit to the United States, the presidential press service reported.

The launch took place from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

The satellite was deployed into orbit as part of a group of spacecraft launched by a single launch vehicle. Its launch was a joint effort between Kyrgyzstan and the United Arab Emirates. The satellite will be controlled from the Mission Control Center in Bishkek.

The launch opens up new opportunities for Kyrgyzstan to use space-based data across various sectors. The data will enable monitoring of agricultural land, glaciers, water bodies, forests and pastures, as well as tracking changes in natural ecosystems.

Satellite data will also be used to identify illegal mining, unauthorized waste dumps and other sources of pollution, as well as to optimize logistics routes.

Satellite technologies will be particularly important for monitoring and early detection of natural hazards. The data will allow for faster detection of droughts, floods, landslides, mudflows and forest fires, creating additional opportunities for timely response and reducing potential damage.

In the future, satellite data will be integrated with government digital systems and used to create spatial maps and analytical models. This will facilitate the use of objective data in government decision-making, investment planning and monitoring the implementation of government programs.

The use of satellite data, combined with the capabilities of supercomputing technologies, will provide a basis for more accurate and effective management of Kyrgyzstan's economic and natural resources.
