Bishkek, Aug.11, 2026. /Kabar/. Batken held international field symposium "Madygen: a paleontological treasure of world significance" dedicated to the Madygen region, which is of particular importance for world paleontological science.
The event is attended by Deputy Head of Batken region Maksatay Kariberdieva, Director of the State Agency for Tourism Development Eduard Kubatov, Director of the Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Specially Protected Natural Areas Talantbek Turdumatov, Deputy Director of Institute of Geological Sciences in Almaty Saida Nigmatova, as well as Kyrgyz and foreign scientists, specialists and researchers.
The Madygen region is considered a paleontological heritage of world importance and has been included in the list of world values. The symposium discusses the place of Madygen in world paleontology, the preservation of the unique natural heritage of the region and the development of international scientific cooperation.
Also, opinions are expressed on increasing the scientific and tourist potential of Madygen, the development of geotourism.
The organizers of the event are the Institute of Geology and Paleontology of the National Academy of Sciences, the Tien Shan Geological Society and the Madygen Geopark Public Foundation.
During the event, scientists who contributed to the study of Madygen and its introduction to the global scientific community were presented with letters of appreciation on behalf of the authorized representative of the Batken region.
