Talas, Sept. 8, 2026 /Kabar/. The President’s Akylman Lyceum, a specialized educational institution for gifted children, will open its doors in Kyrgyzstan’s Talas city on September 11. The opening ceremony will be attended by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov.
The new lyceum was established as part of the country’s efforts to develop the intellectual, scientific and creative potential of talented young people and create opportunities for their academic and personal growth.
The lyceum in Talas has a capacity of 920 students and is equipped with modern facilities designed to provide students with comfortable conditions for learning and development. The complex also includes a dormitory for students from different regions of the country.
The construction of the educational institution is being carried out with the support of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and with sponsorship from Gazprom Kyrgyzstan.
Education at the Akylman Lyceum will be free of charge. Admission is based on a competitive selection process, and students from across Kyrgyzstan are eligible to apply.
Arstanbek Sekishov, Director of the President’s Akylman Lyceum in Talas told Kabar News Agency that preparations for the opening are currently underway.
He noted that this year, 96 students from all regions of the country have successfully passed the entrance selection and will begin their studies at the Talas lyceum.
“Students living in the dormitory will receive three meals a day and will have access to extracurricular clubs and activities in the evenings,” he added.
According to Sekishov, the feature of the institution is to combine high academic standards with strong national values.
“Our main distinctive feature is that we place a strong emphasis on national values while providing education based on international standards,” Sekishov said.
The lyceum will focus particularly on STEM-related subjects, with classes taught in English. The school has recruited qualified teachers through a competitive selection process.
The Akylman Lyceum is designed not only to support students’ academic achievements but also to help develop well-rounded individuals with strong intellectual, scientific and creative potential.
The opening of the Talas lyceum is part of a wider national effort to expand educational opportunities for gifted children.
The Talas lyceum will become the second President’s Akylman Lyceum in Kyrgyzstan. The first such institution was opened in Issyk-Kul Region in 2023.
