Issyk-Kul, Sept. 4, 2026. /Kabar/. World-famous Ecuadorian musician Leo Rojas plans to create a musical fusion by combining the sound of the Kyrgyz komuz with his own traditional instruments, the artist told journalists at the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center.
The musician, who is visiting Kyrgyzstan for the sixth time, noted that he is honored to become the official ambassador of the VI World Nomad Games. He said his introduction to Kyrgyz culture has inspired his new creative project. "It's a privilege for me to be here, in your beautiful country, and at such a grand event as the World Nomad Games. It's a tremendous honor to accept the offer to be an ambassador. I'm inspired by learning about the culture, instruments, and music. It's also inspiring to know that people from all over the Americas live here who are close to our peoples. It's truly special for me to be able to embody this connection in music, which I can share with you all," said Leo Rojas.
According to the musician, the idea of uniting cultures arose during his first visits to Kyrgyzstan, but now he has the opportunity to move from concept to implementation.
"From the very first time I had the opportunity to visit Kyrgyzstan, I was filled with thoughts and inspiration. But after so many years, I have the most important thing – a team I trust and who understands me. We are determined to implement many projects," he noted.
The Kyrgyz komuz will play a special role in the future project. Leo Rojas emphasized that it was his sound that particularly intrigued the musician and that this could form the basis for an unusual combination with his instruments.
Leo Rojas performed today at the Rukh Ordo Cultural Center. The concert was part of the "Kochmondor Sanaty" cultural program and attracted a large number of guests.
