Bishkek, Oct. 23, 2025 /Kabar/. Dinara Kemelova, Special Representative of Kyrgyz President for the Five Years of Action for Mountain Regions Development, met with Oleg Guchgeldiyev, a representative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and Giorgio Grusso, Programme Coordinator of the Mountain Partnership Secretariat (Rome).

According to the presidential press service, the parties discussed the implementation of the upcoming project Promoting Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions within the Framework of the Mountain Partnership in Kyrgyzstan.

Giorgio Grusso, Programme Coordinator of the Mountain Partnership Secretariat, noted that earlier this year, the Italian government decided to allocate a grant to Kyrgyzstan to support small producers and artisan cooperatives in the country's mountainous regions. The project envisions the creation of a business incubator and accelerator providing grants and technical support to agricultural cooperatives, farmers, and artisans, as well as collaboration between renowned designers and Kyrgyz artisans.

Special Presidential Envoy Dinara Kemelova emphasized the need to ensure a transparent and fair selection of participants, as well as broad geographic coverage of mountain regions, with a focus on remote locations where women and local communities require additional development support.

FAO Representative in Kyrgyzstan Oleg Guchgeldiev noted that the project will serve as the foundation for subsequent programs to develop sustainable businesses and create new economic opportunities in Kyrgyzstan's mountain communities.

Meeting participants noted the Kyrgyz Republic's high potential for further expanding participation in these initiatives and discussed ways to attract investment from international financial institutions and funds to support sustainable development in mountain regions.
