Bishkek, Aug. 20, 2025 /Kabar/. President of the Mountaineering Federation of Kyrgyzstan Eduard Kubatov, who successfully climbed to the top of K2 without using oxygen on August 11, arrived today at the Manas-2 International Airport.
K2, located on the border of Pakistan and China on the Karakoram Range, is the second highest mountain in the world, its height is 8 thousand 614 meters.
According to Kubatov, the current season has been particularly difficult.
“There was a lot of snow, avalanches, rocks fell from the mountains, and there were many accidents. Usually, no one climbs K2 in August. But on August 11, the weather cleared up for just two days, which allowed us to reach the summit,” the climber said.
Eduard Kubatov conquered the summit of Everest in 2021. He became the second Kyrgyzstani to conquer the highest peak on Earth. The first was Dmitry Grekov in 1997.
