Bishkek, May 3, 2026. /Kabar/. Recovery efforts following the recent mudflow continue in Ak-Tatyr and Samarkandek rural districts of Batken oblast.
According to the oblast administration, Baktybek Toksonbaev, First Deputy oblast governor held an operational meeting with civil defense services and gave instructions on clearing residential buildings of mudflow and providing all necessary assistance to the population.
In the villages of Orukzar, Kerme-Too, and Uch-Dobo in the Ak-Tatyr rural district, mudflows flooded the yards of approximately 50 residential buildings, with water entering the basements of 10 homes. A total of 149 people (35 families) were evacuated from the affected villages and placed with relatives. A temporary shelter has also been set up at the T. Sadykov secondary school in Ak-Tatyr.
A total of 134 civil defense and local government personnel, as well as 22 pieces of equipment, have been deployed to mitigate the aftermath of the mudflow. Due to the current situation, a state of emergency has been declared in Batken oblast.
