Bishkek, May 20, 2026 /Kabar/. Heavy rains triggered a mudslide in Aksy district of Jalal-Abad region, damaging a bridge on Ak-Zhol-Zholborstu highway. The Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Kyrgyz Republic reported this.
According to the ministry, the incident occurred around 2:30 AM at kilometer 1+300 of the road in the Zhany-Zhol rural municipality. Due to the large volume of the mudslide, the water failed to pass under the bridge and washed away one of its supports.
There were no injuries as a result of the incident.
Traffic on the highway is currently temporarily suspended. Road service personnel from the ministry and specialized equipment are working on the scene. Restoration and repair work is underway.
