Bishkek, March 6, 2025. /Kabar/. The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic was established after the country gained its sovereignty.
By the Resolution of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic dated March 6, 1992, Kyrgyzgosbank, established in 1991, was transformed into the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic. This date became the starting point in the official history of the central bank of the independent country.
The Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Law of the Kyrgyz Republic "On the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic" establish the legal status of the National Bank, the principles of its organization, the purpose of its activities, the main tasks and functions.
Over the past 33 years, the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic has come a long way: its own national currency, the Kyrgyz som, was introduced, which maintains its stable position, the banking system, which meets international standards of banking practice, is successfully functioning and is constantly being improved, and a reliable national payment system has been formed. The National Bank, together with government agencies, commercial banks, partner organizations and all interested parties, intends to continue working in all areas of its activities to achieve the goals set to ensure macroeconomic stability, long-term economic development and improve the well-being of the country's citizens.
