Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2025. /Kabar/. Barbed wire fencing has been installed along almost the entire length of the Kyrgyz-Tajik border in Batken Oblast.

According to the press service of the Batken Oblast state aministration, Aibek Shamenov, the presidential envoy, inspected the progress of demarcation work on a section of the border in Leilek District. Fencing installation is currently ongoing near the village of Maksat.

The total length of the borders between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is 1006.84 kilometers.

After years of conflict, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan signed an agreement in March 2025 to finally demarcate their shared border.

The agreement aims to resolve disputes that have led to clashes, such as those in 2021 and 2022.

The new demarcation has involved some significant changes, including the transfer of territory.
